If you find they are not, please let us know - 'cause they are fooling us, too. :)

Many years ago, I was at a convention of writers and mentioned I had worked at bookstores for years to a friend. Immediately 10 people ran over to me in great excitement. They began rapid fire questions about the book business. I explained I was only a bookseller, not a publisher, but that just made them all more interested.

See, the thing is, There are two kinds of writer's inexperienced and experienced - but none of them know anything about marketing a book. And your publisher won't be scheduling you on Oprah or sending you on a 32 city signing tour. Not unless your on the best seller list. If you want this done, you need to do it yourself.

Since that very first revelation, I've spent years telling lots of writer's the same things over and over again. I needed a way to tell everyone at once, and I figured writing it down would be the best way.

So, this business is about getting the secrets out. After ten years, I still encounter writer's at all levels of the business who know absolutely nothing about marketing. And in today's market, you need marketing at every mile-mark of your career. You will need to market yourself to editors and publishers. You will need to market your book to them, too. You'll need to market your book to the public, to the media. and you will need to continue marketing as long as you want to keep getting published.

I'm not going to give you any old hacks - if you don't know you need to have good grammar and spelling - you need to take a class or something. There are many books out on formatting. Clarion will show you the tricks of the trade.

I'm going to tell you how to sell your book. How to get publishers to take notice. How to overcome writer's block. I'm going to give you  exercises to help you make your writing better. I'm going to teach you how to think outside your little box.

As for the selling, I've been selling things my whole life and I build relationships with all my customers. I have customers from retail establishments who still call for my advice. I have dear friends who started as clients. I've heard constantly from people "Thank God your here, I need to buy something".  I will teach you how to listen to your clients, target your audience and be a sales person of integrity and success. I'll teach you how to push through fear, what networking really is beyond the buzz words and how it can become effortless for you.

I ask, if you take one of my e-zines that you really think about what is being said in them - try everything no matter how ridiculous it might seem and really spend some time doing some introspection work. And get others to help you with it.

If your here you have a dream - right? What's it worth to you? If I told you that if you stand on a street corner in New York naked you would get your dream would you do it? What if I had a thousand clients who'd done it and were now billionaires because of it?

Well, I'll never ask you to do anything like that, but I will ask you to take risks. I'm going to ask you to speak in public, call someone you don't know on the phone or talk to an intimidating stranger. You must do it. I've told lots of other people to do it before, and they all thanked me for it. Then I ask them to take more and more risks on top of that one. One risk will get you the invitation. The second will get you the relationship. The third will get you the sale. You won't like everything I have to say and I won't sugarcoat it. I won't insult your intelligence that way.

You'll also discover that once you take a risk in selling or writing and it works out for you, you'll take risks other places, like your love life or you job, or in finances. Not every risk will pay off, but most of them will. You'll learn how to use failure and enjoy success. And how not to worry about it.

People envy boldness and confidence.  That is what I am offering you. Remember, any change - be it losing weight, becoming successful etc requires not just treating the symptom, you must treat the disease. You can't Just do a fad diet for a week. You have to change how you think about food, excersise and yourself. You have to have good reasons for the change - you have to sell the change to yourself. Most people are overweight because of depression or bad self image. Once they fix that and respect themselves, their habits and metabolism take them to a comfortable weight and they become happy. Losing weight should be about happiness, not sex or health or any of those things. It should be about being happy with yourself. All personal growth should be about joy. Let me take you there, one step at a time.

The Long Road to Joy

I have, in my life, started my own business, worked in the printing industry for many years and done two tours in the Military, including one in Korea during the Korean War. I bring to the table many years of experience both in life and in the industry. \
All life should be like that, tranquil and joyful. Don't you think you should get the things that will make you really happy?

I developed an interest in Sales while very young and have spent my whole life studing the Masters, Zig Ziglar, John Maxwell, Jack Canfield, just to name a few. I've put those practices to use in my own life and now I want to help other people do the same.

I assure you that all the people and programs recommended on this site are ones that I personally have taken or read, and that I have found something of true merit in them. I hope you do to.

I want you to be not only the best salesman you can be, but also the best person - being joyful is the key to real success. Let us help you to be happy and then you will understand the true meaning of success. May God Bless and Keep you.

The Story of Me

When I was graduating from high school, I was asked what I wanted for my gift. I said I wanted to go to a Star Trek Convention at a local college. I got it. While I was there, I met some writers. Now, I'd always been a avid reader and I was really impressed. I started going to conventions with fair regularity and met more writers and editors and publishers. Eventually, I got to meet famous actors, special effects people, directors. Finally, I began working at the conventions, until I eventually got into programming and a directorship.

Now, all this time I was still spending time with the writers, they were the most interesting people. In my professional life, I was getting jobs working in sales, first retail, then wholesale. I was meeting publishers and finding out how the industry works.

As I said in the above message, I've noticed that writers didn't know anything about marketing books. And, in my work with booksellers, I discovered that they didn't know anything about how to help writers market their books. So I began helping them. I began telling booksellers how to get authors for signings and telling authors how to contact booksellers, I watched a lot of signings and found out what worked and what didn't.

I know to book business, I know what sells and why. and I can teach you. :)
